Humanitarian Highlight 01.15.26

Credit unions are always finding different ways to help their members and communities. We see them hold various donation drives, sponsoring charities and events, and granting scholarships to those in need. These are some of the ways credit unions are empowering the next generation.

SJP Federal Credit Union

SJP FCU presented a grant of $10,000 to the St. Amelia School as they continue to support their community. This funding will be used to assist in facility improvement projects and other essential needs. This was done through their Small Business Recovery Grant Program. A great program started during COVID and continues to assist those in need.

Police Federal Credit Union

Police FCU has an annual CU Scholarship Program where they offer more than $20,000 in scholarship funds to their members who are entering their freshman through senior year of college or trade school. Eligible credit union members will need to submit an essay, and there are two types of scholarships. See their website for details.

Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union

The Appalachian Community FCU, aka Team Appy, was a bronze sponsor for the Mountain Empire Community College Masquerade Gala. This benefited the Wise County Endowed Scholarship, supporting local students in their community to pursue higher education and empowering the next generation.

Tonawanda Valley Federal Credit Union

As we look to empower the next generation, we have been looking at notifications for scholarships from credit unions, and we see that Tonawanda Valley FCU has put out information for their 2026 College Scholarship Program. They are partnering with the New York State Credit Union Association to assist college-bound members in paying for their essentials at college. See their page for more details.

Vida Federal Credit Union

19 of the runners in the Ontario Montclair Promise Scholars Reindeer run supported their raffle contest at the event. Every year, they get their community to come together and raise money to assist the next generation of San Bernardino.

New Bedford Credit Union

New Bedford CU partnered with the United Way of Greater New Bedford to run their 27th Annual Toy Drive recently to help the next generation have a magical holiday. They had many donations, and joy for a child is a great way to empower them. Way to go!
