Humanitarian Highlight 08.20.26
Welcome to another edition of our weekly series showcasing the profound impact financial cooperatives make every single day. From sponsoring charity golf tournaments and supporting local youth programs to collecting pet supplies and funding essential community non-profits, credit unions consistently go above and beyond for their neighborhoods. In this week’s Humanitarian Highlights, we are thrilled to celebrate these incredible acts of philanthropy and see how institutions nationwide are teeing up community support where it matters most.
Waterfront Federal Credit Union
Waterfront FCU was a Gold Sponsor for the Nick Buckles Memorial Golf Tournament. A golfing charity event to raise money to support the union and their families, that is not just great for the community but a fun event for all involved. In collaboration with the IBEW Local Union 236 they are dedicating the proceeds to the Saratoga County Veterans Peer Connection Program. Hooah!
Spokane City Credit Union
SCCU was accepting donations to help pets in their community. They had collected a lot of food, toys, and other pet-needs for the SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. organization. Pets are a big part of all communities as these animals are more akin to family members and they need love and attention, so it is great that there are those helping them when they need it.
TAPCO Credit Union
We continue to find credit unions preparing their community for the new school year, and that includes TAPCO CU. They recently had their Back-to-School Supply Drive collecting backpacks and essentials for the children getting ready to return to class. Education is the silver bullet, and it is great that the credit union movement is doing everything it can to support this essential part of their community.
Gulf Coast Federal Credit Union
The 2026 Bowl for Kids’ Sake was a great success. Gulf Coast FCU was a sponsor for this event helping raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Coastal Bend. The youth in their community will have more funding and it was also a great fun event for those bowling that day!
Central State Credit Union
The Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California, Swenson Park Golf Course and Central State CU came together for this year’s Putting for Hope event to help those in their community dealing with this disease. It was a great event with a high turnout. They had food, live music, mini golf and a putting competition to help raise funds to support the fight against Alzheimer’s.
Arcadia Credit Union
The Arcadia Community Chest was given a wonderful donation of $3,000 from Arcadia CU as they continue to help support the local organizations in their community helping make a difference. This cause supported over 30 different nonprofits and projects last year as they improved their community.
