Humanitarian Highlight 9.26.24
Credit unions play an essential role in their communities, offering financial services to their members and supporting local initiatives. In this week’s #humanitarianhighlight, we’re observing credit unions glowing with their generous spirit.
Embold Credit Union
Embold Credit Union volunteers cleaned up trash in Portland’s Central Eastside Industrial District. They teamed up with SOLVE Nonprofit and the Cascadia Chapter of CUs. Their efforts prepared the area for the Depave “Big Break Block Party.” Together, they turned over-paved spaces into urban green havens. Emboldians, your hard work shines brightly!
Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union
Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union hosted a Trivia Night supporting LoveU2Pieces. Participants enjoyed trivia, refreshments, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit the St. Louis autism community. LoveU2Pieces provides vital education, support, and awareness. Gateway Metro’s efforts fill a critical gap in the community.
State Credit Union
Earlier in the year, State Credit Union employees created enrichment toys for zoo animals. Their wild creativity benefited Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Small and large toys were woven together, bringing joy to the animals. This project highlighted their commitment to wildlife care and conservation. Great job, SCU team!
Arsenal Credit Union
Arsenal Credit Union collected over 800 diapers and wipes for the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank. Members and staff came together to combat diaper needs in the community. Their collective effort ensures families in need have clean diapers. Thank you, Arsenal Credit Union, for your generous spirit and dedication!
MIT Federal Credit Union
MIT Federal Credit Union sponsored and participated in the Stephen Jones Golf Tournament. This event honors Stephen Jones of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. Proceeds benefit A Bed for Every Child, an initiative of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. MIT Federal’s involvement exemplifies “People Helping People” by providing beds for children in need.
OUCU Financial
OUCU Financial collected peanut butter and jelly for Athens County Children Services’ 17th Annual PB&J Drive. They aimed to serve 4,000 kids with these donations. OUCU also donated $1,000 to support this important project. Thanks to members, employees, and friends, the drive reached its goal. OUCU, your kindness spreads joy one PB&J at a time!
