Humanitarian Highlight 05.29.25
Gifting is not just in December—at least not for credit unions. All year long, these member-powered organizations spread kindness like sunshine. Whether it’s spring or summer, their commitment to community never takes a holiday. From diaper drives to food festivals, their good deeds blossom in every season. Here’s how six CUs proved that giving is truly a year-round celebration.
Cyprus Credit Union
Cyprus Credit Union partnered with KUTV 2News and Utah Diaper Bank for their 4th annual Diaper Drive. From April through Mother’s Day, they collected diapers at every branch. One in three families in Utah struggles with diaper needs. Cyprus CU refused to let that go unmet. Their members and employees donated generously. This annual event shows how credit unions help families stay strong—365 days a year.
Bellwether Community Credit Union
Bellwether brought their cheerful spirit to the SEE Science Center’s 24th Annual Champagne Putt. As presenting sponsor, they didn’t just fund the fun—they joined it! Employees formed the “Bellwether Birdies” and putted through playful exhibits. Their support helped kids and families explore science in creative ways. Bellwether proves that giving back doesn’t require a holiday—it just needs heart.
Mohave Community Federal Credit Union
Mohave Community Federal Credit Union launched its “Feeding Our Neighbors” food drive from mid-February through March. Members brought canned goods, shelf-stable items, and donations straight to the teller line. Mohave CU focused on a simple truth—hunger doesn’t take time off. This credit union proved big love shows up in practical ways
Nikkei Credit Union
In April, Nikkei Credit Union joined the Torrance Police Department’s Coffee with a Cop event at Chick-fil-A. Staff chatted with officers and community members over coffee and smiles. These in-person events build trust and show what credit union community engagement looks like in action. Nikkei CU reminds us that presence and participation can be powerful gifts.
South Texas Credit Union
South Texas Credit Union turned up the fun at Texas Onion Fest in Downtown Weslaco. With live entertainment, dancing horses, and a TV raffle at their booth, they made a strong impression. South Texas CU shared their story with families from across the region while celebrating. It’s community engagement with flair—and a whole lot of flavor.
Susquehanna Valley FCU
Paper clutter? Not on SVFCU’s watch! Their Annual Shred Event helped members safely toss old documents. It wasn’t just about organization—it was about protecting identities and bringing peace of mind. SVFCU turned spring cleaning into a celebration of safety and service.
