Humanitarian Highlight 8.15.23

Credit unions are beacons of hope in our communities. Their actions demonstrate that kindness goes a long way. Today, we highlight six credit unions that bring hope to the communities in which they operate.

University of Michigan Credit Union

The University of Michigan Credit Union collected 113 instruments through their Play It Forward Instrument Drive. They surpassed their goal of 70 instruments, showing the power of community spirit. The donated instruments will inspire young musicians, bringing hope and joy to their lives.

OMNI Community Credit Union

OMNI Community Credit Union donated $3,183.75 to Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan through the Gives Back Program. Their gift will help nurture financial literacy and entrepreneurship among local youths. Great work, OMNI Community CU!

Avadian Credit Union

Avadian Credit Union sponsored the annual Cotton Row Run in Huntsville on Memorial Day. The event, which benefits families of fallen soldiers, has honored heroes for over 40 years. Avadian’s participation strengthens community bonds and supports those who serve.

VacationLand Federal Credit Union

VacationLand Federal Credit Union celebrated Firefighter Appreciation Day by delivering sandwiches to five fire stations. Cassidy Haas and Barbara Oestreicher led the effort. Their gesture brought smiles to local heroes.

America First Credit Union

America First Credit Union awarded ten $5,000 scholarships through their Charitable Foundation. These scholarships support students who give back to their communities and show leadership potential. America First is investing in the future and bringing hope to students.

South Carolina Federal Credit Union

South Carolina Federal Credit Union sponsored the International African American Museum’s Anniversary Jubilee Soirée. The event celebrated local artists and chefs, offering vibrant music and diverse cuisines. Their sponsorship helped honor the museum’s mission and the rich culture it represents.
