Humanitarian Highlight 7.4.24
Today is Independence Day in the United States and it is a great time for the community to come together which means #HumanitarianHighlight time! So let’s enjoy some fireworks and philanthropy.
Alliant Credit Union
Alliant Credit Union was successful in its spring technology donation drive. They were able to collect 8,633 pounds of computer equipment they donated to PCs for People. This charity helps those in need have access to computers and the internet which allows them to reach their full potential in their community. A great donation drive that will help emphasize the importance of sustainable practices.
America First Credit Union
America First donated $5,000 to the Provo City School District Foundation. This is one of the two local charities that America First is supporting, along with the Boys and Girls Club of Utah County. The PCSDF has a mission to elevate students’ success in the Provo City School District with education opportunities for the students and teachers. Children are the future of this nation and so we thank AFCU for helping support those children in their community!
Freedom Credit Union
Freedom is still accepting donations for their “Month of Giving” which is extended until August 31, so visit their website to donate. Last summer they collected more than $2,700 in food and personal care donations. This year they hope to collect even more. The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been helping to feed their neighbors since 1982.
St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union
Thanks to the donation from St. Lawrence FCU the Ogdensburg Pool will be able to offer free public swimming for the the remainder of the season. These small pleasures really help a community grow and find comfort. We always want to spotlight the charity and community from credit unions no matter how big or small, because this is important for those who will enjoy this pool during the hot summer coming ahead.
State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU Foundation)
Last month we saw the SECU Foundation finish its $3 million challenge grant to the Caring House in Durham, N.C. This housing facility helps patients and caregivers who travel and receive care at Duke Cancer Institute. These funds will help to construct an addition that will double the capacity of the facility.
Teachers Federal Credit Union
The Teachers FCU gave a $600,000 donation to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals from its Second Annual Teachers Federal Credit Union Golf Tournament in May. This donation also included sponsorships from their partners and donations from the employees and members of Teachers. Their event drew in more than 150 attendees and it was the largest of its kind in the Northeast benefitting CMN Hospitals.
