Humanitarian Highlight 06.19.25

Sometimes, the smallest actions spark the biggest smiles. That’s what credit unions do best. From shredding old documents to throwing BBQs, they sprinkle kindness wherever they go. These local heroes build trust, spread joy, and show up with big grins. Here’s a look at six credit unions turning everyday moments into community magic with small acts and big smiles.

802 Credit Union

802 Credit Union knows how to throw a party! They’re hosting Member Appreciation Days all June long. With snacks, prizes, and cheerful vibes, they’re making each branch feel like home. Some lucky branches even get BBQs! These events show how much 802 Credit Union loves its members. Now that’s a small act with big smiles.

Tucoemas Federal Credit Union

Tucoemas Federal Credit Union gave pets—and their humans—a day to remember. Their 2nd Annual Pet-A-Pawlooza brought joy, laughter, and wagging tails. Fur babies soaked up the spotlight. It was a celebration of love, loyalty, and community. Tucoemas definitely earned a tail-wagging round of applause.

First Imperial Credit Union

First Imperial Credit Union made a big impact through their April “Casual for a Cause” fundraiser. Staff traded formal wear for casual clothes and raised $1,000 for Sabrina’s Wish. This local nonprofit helps students attend prom by covering the cost of attire. With this act of kindness, First Imperial helped students feel confident and included on a night they’ll never forget.

Miami U. Federal Credit Union

Miami U. Federal Credit Union turned document shredding into a thoughtful act of protection. Their Shred It Event helped members dispose of old files safely. With a professional truck and clear limits, it ran smoothly. Members felt secure. Trust grew stronger because protecting people matters just as much as protecting money for credit unions.

Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union

Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union wants members to stay safe, online and off. Their blog shares simple cybersecurity tips anyone can follow. They explain phishing, passwords, and fraud prevention with ease. Their Member Safety Center offers even more help. In today’s world, knowledge is power, and Unity Catholic FCU shares it generously.

New Alliance Federal Credit Union

New Alliance Federal Credit Union got hands-on for Earth Day. CFO Pat Schimonsky and Business Development Director Jeff Tumsis joined a street cleanup in Lawrenceville. Together, they cleared litter from Butler Street. One bag of trash at a time, they made a difference. Thank you, New Alliance FCU, for helping with small acts, big smiles.
