Humanitarian Highlight 11.23.23

Credit unions are truly here to help their members and the communities in which they operate. In this week’s #HumanitarianHighlight, we follow CUs helping across the states.

Credit Union of Colorado

The Credit Union of Colorado held its annual “Here to Help Day” event. The roaster of volunteers included board members, team members, friends, and family. They were able to organize over 200 team members to volunteer at 19 charitable organizations statewide. The CU of Colorado contributed nearly $12,000 in cash and in-kind donations.

Centra Credit Union

Centra Credit Union allocated $112,500 in grants to 43 nonprofits. Credit union team members nominated each charitable organization. Their contribution also includes scholarships, member loyalty rewards, and spirited campaigns like the Freeport Food Drive. The funds will be delivered by the end of November.

Del-One Federal Credit Union

Del-One Federal Credit Union collaborated with VISA for a $25,000 donation to the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce. This gesture fuels the chamber’s mission to reshape the economic landscape for small businesses. Great work, Del-One FCU!

Cornerstone Credit Union

Cornerstone Credit Union hosted 13 WREX’s 9th Annual Freeport Food Drive. The event collected over $16,000 worth of food, toiletries, and monetary contributions. This heartfelt initiative not only fills pantries but also the hearts in the community.

Omaha Federal Credit Union

Omaha Federal Credit Union demonstrated its appreciation for veterans by packing goodie bags. What originated as a COVID-era act of kindness, has evolved into an annual event. The patriotic bags were filled with snacks, bandages, and reading materials. The credit union handed out the goodies to veterans in retirement homes ahead of Veteran’s Day. Thank you, Omaha Federal Credit Union for being here to help our veterans.

Louisiana Federal Credit Union

Louisiana Federal Credit Union held its annual Sweet Soiree Auction and raised $6,630 for the American Cancer Society. The funds will help the organization’s mission to fight for a world without cancer. The event successfully auctioned off cookies, cakes, brownies, and other baked goods.
