Humanitarian Highlight 09.29.22
Helping people is what credit unions do all year round. This week, we have put together another #HumanitarianHighlight where we look at CU’s helping schools and sponsoring community events.
Lookout Credit Union
Lookout Credit Union donated $15,000 to the 2nd annual Kevin’s Run for Funds hosted by Idaho State University. The 5K event was able to raise $40,000 for student scholarships.
First Trust Credit Union
First Trust Credit Union partnered up with the Michigan City Salvation Army, Al’s Supermarkets, local WEFM & WIMS radio stations, and the Michigan City School Corporation for the Stuff a Bus Food Drive for The Salvation Army Food Pantry. The food drive consisted of filling Michigan City school buses with bags of food, collecting donations, and community members purchasing pre-packaged bags of groceries for families in need.
Via Credit Union
Via Credit Union donated $2,000 to Jefferson STEM Elementary for equipment, materials, and training for the MakerSpace. The collaborative workspace and materials will help students learn STEM concepts and explore the uses of high-tech to no-tech tools. Way to go Via Credit Union!
Allied Federal Credit Union
Allied Federal Credit Union donated school supplies and monetary donations to three elementary schools. Allied FCU has been collecting school supplies for months to help children have a successful school year.
Mid Oregon Credit Union
Mid Oregon Credit Union raised $2,200 and school supplies for local students through its annual Supplies 4 Schools fundraiser. The credit union has been doing an amazing job supporting K-12 students in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties who lack the necessities to succeed at school. Thank you Mid Oregon Credit Union!
Southland Credit Union
Southland Credit Union supported and sponsored the Race Los Al community event in Los Alamitos. The event consisted of a street fair, running events, and the Southland Credit Union Glow Run and Glide.
