Humanitarian Highlight 02.05.26
Love is in the air this February and as it is a Thursday that means it is time to look at some wonderful humanitarians in the credit union industry. We have donations for homeless shelters, scholarships, financial literacy and so many great things!
Tomah Area Credit Union
Tomah is all about community a they continue to grant scholarships to seniors and former graduates. They also are a big part of local events for their members and community such as a recent Chili Cookoff and a party with the Grinch! Charity and community is not always just about money and food or scholarships to those in need, sometimes it is finding an excuse to get the community together.
Meijer Credit Union
Late last year we see that Meijer contributed $10,000 to the Meijer Simply Give hunger relief program. This successful program has donated more than $100 million to help those in need for the past 17 years. That contribution has clearly helped many in their community. Here is 17 more!
Crow Wing Power Credit Union
Crow Wing Power CU participated in their annual community-giving event to help their neighbors who are in need, recently. They partnered with Crow Wing Power and the Peoples Security Company, once again. They were able to put together over than 225 of their “blessing bags” that contained personal care items and food, as well as 30 cake kits. These were delivered to local shelters and food shelves. Their community matters and it shows.
Weyco Community Credit Union
Late last year we saw Weyco Community CU collect donations for the local Martin Community College’s Mustang Meals Program which is an essential access for local students. It was a time where many credit unions and other humanitarians had to work overtime for those in need of nutrition as there was many issues going on at the time.
Centex Citizens Credit Union
Centex Citizens CU participated in a NAACP Family Fun Day event last October. This inaugural event was a great time for the community to learn financial literacy and participate in other educational and entertaining activities. It was free for local families and even offered free food and drinks. Some events to help the community can be such events where it builds community and offers aid.
Mercer County Community Federal Credit Union
The Prince of Peace Center was given a donation via a Visa grant that centers around financial literacy programming. Their $5,000 donation will assist in their classes and Q-Academy. There were also donations to the Shenango Valley Urban League, the United Way of Mercer County, The Salvation Army Sharon PA and the Junior Achievement of Western PA.
