Humanitarian Highlight 08.13.26
Credit unions consistently go above and beyond for their members, and seeing these financial institutions rally around local causes is always inspiring. From charity golf tournaments that bring communities together to vital back-to-school drives and dedicated grants for local educators, financial cooperatives are making a lasting impact. In this edition of our humanitarian highlights, we are thrilled to feature these incredible efforts and see how credit unions are swinging for success in their communities.
Glass City Federal Credit Union
We see the the Lucas County Children School Supply and Backpack Drive got some assistance from Glass City FCU. They helped fill 900 backpacks with essential supplies for the students in their community.
Revity Credit Union
Recently the 10th Annual Tee Up Fore Veterans Golf Tournament went on and Revity CU was there to cover all the tournament expenses with a donation of $20,000. This meant the entire $44,984 raised could be used entirely for the veterans supported by the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. There are many ways to honor those who have served and this is one great way to support them.
Education Credit Union
So many credit unions helping kick off the 2026 school year and recently Education CU also helped their community and educators. They had gifts for the AISD teachers who were grateful for the deliveries. I mean they are a credit union started by ten teachers and it has since helped so many in their community.
Christian Financial Credit Union
Thanks to the Christian Financial CU the United Way for Southeastern Michigan program received a $2,500 donation. This was to help their annual Backpacks for Bright Futures Back-to-School Program. They also volunteered to assist in packing the 6,700 backpacks with all the essentials for the upcoming school year. The students in their community will be better prepared because of these humanitarians.
North Island Credit Union
For the schools in the North Island CU community there is a wonderful opportunity for funding as they are accepting applications for their 2026 Fall Teacher Grant Program. As we publish this it is still looking for applicants until their September 12, 2026 cut-off date. They will award 10 educators with $500 each to help them better teach to their students. Be sure to check it out if you are eligible!
Wailuku Federal Credit Union
We have another golf tournament raising funds for charity, and this is on Maui as Wailuku FCU participated in the Credit Unions of Maui 11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The proceeds from this tournament are to benefit the Maui Junior Golf Association as it introduces the youth to the game and the traditions associated with it while trying to remove any racial, ethnic and/or financial barriers the young community members may have.
