Humanitarian Highlight 07.02.26

We are back, and it is time for another issue of Humanitarian Highlights where we put the spotlight on the credit unions who are taking care of their communities with donations and charity. As we get ready to enjoy a holiday weekend to celebrate the history of this nation, let’s look at how credit unions continue to serve their communities and having credit union celebrations.

KH Credit Union

KH CU is celebrating their 60 years of taking care of their members and community. One thing they have done to help in the celebration is to sponsor the Good Neighbor House Golf Tournament, recently. They are still looking for others to help for the September golf tournament, so be sure to check it out!

Every year so many credit unions participate in such golf charity events, and we have also helped many of them one way or another!!

United Poles Federal Credit Union

United Poles FCU has put out the call for applications so they can award 5 scholarships of $1,000 each. Another great reason to be a part of the credit union movement is if you are seeking higher education for yourself or a child of yours you can be sure that a credit union is out there ready to help you get your goals.

Penn State Federal Credit Union

Penn State FCU recently donated $20,000 to the YMCA of Centre County in their efforts to battle food insecurity. The donation will go a long way to assist in their YMCA’s Backpack program to help children get meals when they are unable to get some from their local schools. Many families are finding it difficult to provide for their children with recent cuts to programs and so these are so essential for their community.

Serve Credit Union

Serve CU worked with First Community Trust, N.A. to distribute almost $19,000 to 11 nonprofit organizations. They have plans to have distributions every 5 years as they continue their “Serve with Purpose” Community Giving Program. It’s nice when a credit union helps a charity, and this is 11x better!

First Harvest Federal Credit Union & Others

Okay, we’re doing a big shout out here, as we are going to celebrate 18 New Jersey credit unions that have united for an annual food cooperative in an effort to address the hunger in their communities. This is the third annual food cooperative and it is great to see so many credit unions unite to address this situation.

The credit unions involved:

First Harvest Federal Credit Union, Affinity Federal Credit Union, Edifi Credit Union, ACE Federal Credit Union, Advanced Financial Federal Credit Union, Bay Atlantic Federal Credit Union, Bridgeton Onized Federal Credit Union, County Excellence Federal Credit Union, Deepwater Industries Federal Credit Union, Elizabeth Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, Healthcare Employees Federal Credit Union, Manville Area Federal Credit Union, Members 1st of NJ Federal Credit Union, Motion Federal Credit Union, Princeton Federal Credit Union, Ridgedale Federal Credit Union, Seaport Federal Credit Union and The Atlantic Federal Credit Union.

That is a lot of credit unions working together!!
