Humanitarian Highlight 03.19.26

It is a great time of year to see so many credit union humanitarians spring into service. We have donations to important charities, more scholarship drives, service animals (since we have a soft spot for the furry friends), and so many other great causes.

Great Meadow Federal Credit Union

So we saw a few months ago how Great Meadow FCU donated $5,000 to Battenkill Community Services in a collaborative effort with the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. This charity is to help individuals with disabilities across the many ways they may need assistance. But they also donated a $5,000 grant to Firefly Meadow Service Dongs, Inc. to help their cause. That’s not all, though as another $5,000 donation went to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties. You can see some of the great causes they have a history of assisting on their webpage.

Lower Columbia Longshoremen Federal Credit Union

LCLFCU has their annual scholarship drive going on and it seeks to help their young members. We are a forms and disclosures company, which is handy to remember if you are looking to find the scholarship application as it is in in their forms and disclosures page. To those in their field of membership applying, good luck!!

Muskegon Federal Credit Union

Muskegon FCU participated in their annual tradition of Dancing with the Local Stars and this year they had a Latin Flare. This event is a fun way to support a cause that impacts thousands in their community, as it directly goes to putting food on the table of many in their community. This year’s theme was Black & White, and even their president was on a team to help support their local food pantries.

Irving City Employees Federal Credit Union

Near the end of 2025 we saw Irving City Employees FCU have a donation drive to help their community. They were seeking non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets and other essential items to donate to those in need. Way to go!

LaPorte Community Federal Credit Union

There was a collaborative effort with LaPorte Community FCU and Leadership LaPorte County to collect essentials for those in their community who have a serious need for hygiene products. They were collecting socks, toothpaste, deodorant and other important essential hygienic products. Many of take for granted on having these on hand, but there are those who don’t have the resources to generally stock them.

Stoneham Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union

The Elsie P. Kinney Scholarship is up and running from Stoneham Municipal Employees FCU as they seek to help their members continue in their educational goals. They are seeking two eligible high school seniors to be granted $500 scholarships each. Be sure to check out the survey if you are eligible.
