Humanitarian Highlight 03.12.26
Welcome back to our weekly batch of Humanitarian Highlights. This week, we are focused on Investing in Impact by spotlighting the community pillars that go above and beyond. Our latest curation includes credit unions stepping up to support local artists and our public library. There are also life-changing scholarships for the next generation. We have also culled the latest updates on our brave K9 units and dedicated programs for children, ensuring these essential “pet causes” get the visibility they deserve. From financial empowerment to frontline safety, these stories prove that collective investment creates a lasting ripple effect.
Crossroads Community Federal Credit Union
Crossroads Community FCU participates in Tackling Hunger to assist their local food banks every fall. That is not the only important involvement they have in their community and outreach. They have a long history of supporting important causes and organizations in their community. Programs such as Arts in the Park, Pennville Community, Special Olympics and other local youth sports programs, United Way and so many more.
Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union
A community cause does not always have to be life and death, there are many other important things a credit union can do to help build community and to support those in it. Desert Valleys FCU knows this and it is why they are investing in the those who shape community, namely local artists. They created the Artists Living in the Valley Area! Since one of our staff is an artist born in Ridgecrest we knew we had to put the highlight on this cause. Art is a very important part of all communities.
Daniels-Sheridan Federal Credit Union
Daniels-Sheridan had a fun fundraiser a few months ago to also raise some team spirits as they had donations made for the Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena. They had members in the community choose their favorite Montana team, and then they put up icons for those teams along their wall. A fun way to get some donations to help some children.
Eastmill Federal Credit Union
The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library were given a donation from Eastmill FCU to continue in their mission. The Friends started to step up and create a modern library and community center to be the central hub of learning and connection in their community. It seems they are still in a temporary location and we can’t see what the future holds.
First Choice Federal Credit Union
For over 20 years, First Choice FCU has been there for their community seeking higher education as they continue to offer scholarships. They are working with The Shenango Valley Chapter of Credit Unions, CrossState CU Association, and other local credit unions (GNC Community, Grove City Area FCU, and Mercer County Community FCU). Time is running out for members to turn in the applications and essays, though!
GRANCO Federal Credit Union
Recently GRANCO FCU was part of the 70 Acts of Kindness for the Columbia Basin K9s 70th Anniversary. They were a catering sponsor for their special Banquet. This non-profit is a volunteer group to support the K9s that work in Washington’s Columbia Basin. They are involved in supporting, training, and welcoming certified, highly trained patrols dogs in the community.
