Humanitarian Highlight 02.19.26
We are still going through some contributions from 2025 because there are always so many humanitarians in the credit union movement who are leading by example. This week we show some great food drives, toys for tots, and a record-breaking year for credit unions in Maine helping end hunger. Many presidents of this nation have led by example and we believe that there is nothing more American than credit unions.
CenturyFirst Federal Credit Union
Recently CenturyFirst FCU held a very successful food drive. Their members, employees, and community provided any canned and non-perishable foods to assist those in need. Before that they had a “Be a Santa to a Senior” program, as well and so they have been busy helping their community. Way to go!
Christian Family Credit Union
When Christian Family CU requested some brand-new adult-sized coats to add to their coat donations, they saw Ebenezer Baptist Church come to the rescue. They had a goal of 400 coats for their community and we are sure they exceeded that goal.
Daviess County Teachers Federal Credit Union
Near the end of last year we saw that Daviess County Teachers FCU did a few humanitarian deeds showing they are the ones leading by example. They awarded their recent Richard E. Skaggs & William E. Morris scholarship. Then later in the year they participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.
Fannin Federal Credit Union
Fannin FCU had a wonderful and successful “People Helping People” campaign, recently. They were able to help many local non-profit organizations in their community. From the Friends of the Bonham SNAP Center to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Many other organizations were also granted a donations through this program.
Foothills Federal Credit Union
We know many credit unions participated in the Toys for Tots and that never gets old. Each community has children that has their holidays saved and full of magic thanks to their credit union participation in this annual event. Way to help your community!
Gardiner Federal Credit Union
We were blown away when we saw how Gardiner FCU and the other Main Credit Unions helped raise almost $1.5 million to help the Campaign For Ending Hunger program. 2025 was a banner year and we can’t wait to see how it does this year. GFCU also received a Volunteer Excellence Award and they earned the first place for the Highest Per Member Contribution! That is leading the way!
