Humanitarian Highlight 12.25.25

The humanitarians working for credit unions are Santa’s helpers who work all year long, which is why we love putting these posts together. We examine some recent humanitarian efforts undertaken by those in the credit union movement.

Missouri Electric Cooperatives Employees’ Credit Union

Many students are currently on winter break, but those who want to get ahead are always on the lookout for scholarships, which is where credit unions excel. Banks are not known for helping their customers get funding for school unless there is interest attached, but credit unions love to help their members pay for their education. We saw that MECE CU is accepting applications for their next batch of scholarships in their Frank Stork Student Scholarship program.

Library of Congress Federal Credit Union

This year, we saw the Library of Congress FCU participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, and they helped raise over $2,400 dollars. Every dollar raised is another step toward helping end this disease and assist those who must endure.

Monterey Credit Union

Monterey CU had a great time as they were the Presenting Sponsor supporting Meals on Wheels to ensure their community is fed. What a great cause, and there are many in their community grateful for the hardwork done by the credit union and the charity.

Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union

Lincoln Maine FCU has a Community Care Cabinet to assist those in need, and they are always asking for assistance and donations to this cause. This year was not a great year for those with food insecurity this year, and so we are so grateful to credit unions like LMFCU, who are stepping up and finding different ways to assist their members and the community in need.

Katahdin Federal Credit Union

This past month, we saw Katahdin FCU have a very successful food drive to assist their community with food insecurity issues. These food drives, the Toys for Tots, and other such programs do not work without a community that assists, and they come together when such credit unions are willing to put in time and money to help their communities!

RiverLand Federal Credit Union

The children in the community that RiverLand FCU services are going to be grateful, as they partnered with their local Marines Toys for Tots program and collected many gifts that will bring the holiday cheer. For more information and to find your local drop-off spots, visit toysfortots.org.
