Humanitarian Highlight 12.18.25
The holiday season, the winter chill, and the humanitarians from the credit union movement. It is a wonderful time of year as we see so many credit unions sharing in the warmth of giving.
West Community Credit Union
Recently, we saw West Community CU weaving Plarn Sleeping Mats in partnership with AmeriCorps St. Louis to assist unhoused individuals in staying warm. At the time of this writing, they are also still accepting diaper donations, which is a very great program for new parents unable to afford the basics like diapers. Please take a look at their Community Page to see some of the great deeds these great individuals are doing all the time to help their members and community!
Monroe Community Credit Union
The Monroe Community CU, in partnership with the Exchange Club of Monroe, helped sell the Goodfellow Papers at its branch. This is a 93-year tradition that benefits their community in so many ways. Each paper sold helps raise money for those in need. The roots actually go back more than a hundred years, and we are hoping to see no end to this wonderful program.
Northern Skies Federal Credit Union
Continued to support the Food Bank of Alaska to assist those in need of food. Their recent Cash for Cans initiative was a success, and with the generosity of their employees and members, continues to feed the families in need living in their communities.
Pasadena Federal Credit Union
Pasadena FCU was the Title Sponsor for the SPIRITT Family Services’ “Evening With Friends” annual fundraising holiday dinner. This annual event celebrates the incredible donors and volunteers helping to further the mission of serving their community in need. They had a great time, even though they also had important stories to help show the families who were impacted by domestic violence, addiction, and homelessness.
OUR Credit Union
To support local children in having a great and magical holiday, our CU hosted a special meet & greet with Old St. Nick and ran its annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive. Many credit unions have consistently supported this charitable event year after year, and we never tire of acknowledging their contributions. Check your credit union to see if they are participating, and ask them why, if they can do it next year. This helps so many families during a very stressful time.
New Hampshire Federal Credit Union
New Hampshire FCU showed its support and admiration for veterans and military families with a donation to the Manchester VA Medical Center that was to aid in their critical support. Additionally, the VA and the credit union wanted the community to be aware that they are always looking for volunteers, especially now. If you would like to volunteer or donate to this VA center, contact them today!
