Humanitarian Highlight 12.04.25
As we have seen, numerous food charities have highlighted the issues and concerns associated with federal assistance to the community. Consequently, credit unions are stepping up to use the recipe for giving. There are also so many charities helping the homeless find warmth and children find joy.
State Employees’ Credit Union
SECU consistently performs outstanding acts of kindness for its members and community, and recently, it awarded scholarships to 30 students. Since 2018, their SECU Bridge to Career program has helped many students support their education and obtain careers with sustainable wages.
Arrowhead Credit Union
Through their charity, ArrowHeart Foundation, there have been many great deeds done by the Arrowhead CU. Recently, they held their Annual Food Collection to help those in need, and it was desperately needed with the recent issues that were going on in the US. A few months before that, they held their 2025 Clothing Collection to help those in need of clothing, in time for the cooler months we are now in.
Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union
For this year’s National Education Support Professionals Day, we saw APGFCU as the exclusive sponsor for the Harford County Public Schools’ Support Services Superstar Awards, where they gave out 18 prizes for students who were very pleased with the money. Way to go!
Canvas Credit Union
So many charities out there are helping people get food, get toys, and even socks. Canvas CU is currently holding its annual sock drive through December, and that is so awesome! Homeless shelters and resource centers across Colorado use these to ensure those in need keep warm with the donated socks.
Multipli Credit Union
Multiply is hosting its Toys for Tots campaign, and at the time of publication of this article, there is still time for those in the local community to help out. They are looking for new unwrapped toys to help local children have a great holiday, but seriously, go into whatever local credit union you live near, and I am sure they either are participating or will know where you can go to assist the children in your community.
Qualstar Credit Union
Qualstar CU partnered with NW Laborers Training to help support the apprentices during their Financial Tools Day. This will help the next generation of Laborers build a stronger financial future for themselves and their families. Before that, the credit union also sponsored the 17th Annual Washington Women in Trades Dream Big Dinner that is helping inspire women the the trades that they cater to.
