Humanitarian Highlight 11.27.25
For those facing food insecurity, experiencing homelessness, or for children who might otherwise miss out on the joy of the holiday season, credit unions consistently step up to save the day. Every week, we witness a genuine feast of philanthropy through the incredible hard work and charitable contributions coming directly from credit unions and their staff.
Southwest 66 Credit Union
While many charities tackle critical issues like hunger and disease, the simple joy of a child receiving a holiday gift is equally profound. This year, Southwest 66 Credit Union is channeling that spirit by actively collecting donations for its annual Toys for Tots program. Through their efforts, they are ensuring that countless children in their community experience the magic and happiness that define the holiday season.
Columbia Credit Union
They have been helping donate thousands of pounds of food for their community as they collect food donations at their branches and deliver it to the Clark County Food Bank. This effort will end this week, but they are always doing what they can for their community and members.
Breakwater Federal Credit Union
Breakwater FCU was taking donations for their food drive as well to assist the Western Upper Peninsula Food Bank in feeding their community. They had set up at a local market and then accepted more donations in their lobby.
First Northern Credit Union
Donated $500 to the Connections for the Homeless organization that provides support and services to those experiencing homelessness in their community. A great cause to really help those in their community in need. They were also a part of the Mayor’s Holiday Food, Toy, and Book Drive, which is a great cause to help the children they serve.
Quincy Credit Union
Quincy CU is once again helping the Toys for Tots in its local area. As we said earlier, this is a great cause for the children who receive these gifts. They also recently gave $500 to support the Interfaith Social Services organization working to help those in their community with food insecurity.
St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union
Their recent good deed was securing a $50,000 Business Recovery Grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. This was used to help support many local organizations, such as Potsdam Humane Society, Hammond Library, Knots Work, and Morristown Public Library.
