Humanitarian Highlight 11.20.25
This is truly a season of thanks as we see so many credit unions and humanitarians standing up to assist those who are in need this year. We are so thankful for all the hard work these and other credit unions continue to do in helping their communities and members in need. Remember, if you want to be highlighted, then let us know!
Marine Credit Union
Due to recent events, the number of families struggling to feed their children has become more difficult. In response to this, Marine CU launched a year-end food drive to assist those in their community to get the food they need. Besides this food drive, they are also donating over $30,000 to food banks in their community over the course of many weeks.
Mountain America Federal Credit Union
Last month, MACU launched its 2025 GivingTuesday campaign, which seeks to provide $1,000 to 28 nonprofits that its community wants to support. And that is awesome, but we also wanted to point people to their Facebook Page, where they feature a weekly “Mountain America Credit Union Pet of the Week” and assist the Humane Society of Utah in finding homes for these wonderful animals.
Idaho Central Credit Union
The Portneuf Greenway Foundation has created a 20-mile trail system to connect Pocatello’s university district and the Highland neighborhood, following a decade-long effort. ICCU made this happen with a $100,000 donation for the Connection Communities Trail and the Idaho Department of Transportation, giving assistance as it incorporated elements of its construction into the I-15 renovation project. This will be a great path for pedestrians and cyclists in their community. They are also working with Giving Machine East Idaho, and their machines are live now!
Global Federal Credit Union
Recently, the Global Federal CU Foundation donated $27,500 to various nonprofit organizations on the West Coast as a part of their quarterly distribution of nonprofit funds. Some of the nonprofits were TOGETHER!, the Enlisted Project, and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. These three charities focus on families, veterans, and children, respectively.
tnConnect Credit Union
The holidays are coming up, and with recent interruptions for those in need, we are thankful for the many credit unions stepping up to fill the voids that help their communities survive and thrive. Recently, tnConnect Credit Union had its Cares Team assist the Emerald Youth Foundation with some funds that would help with their Thanksgiving Meal.
Gulf Winds Credit Union
The Tallahassee team of Gulf Winds CU recently volunteered with Wakulla Giving Hands, Inc. to help support their cause of helping the community get access to food and other essentials. Also, a reminder that they and many charities right now are really looking for assistance, as many communities are hurting due to dramatic rises in costs and declines in federal aid. Be sure to check out this charity or others in your community!
