Humanitarian Highlight 04.17.25

In neighborhoods across the country, credit unions are sprouting with hope. From feeding families to funding futures, these efforts show what “people helping people” really means. In this week’s blog, we follow credit unions making their hometowns brighter, greener, and sprouting with hope.

Blue Federal Credit Union

Blue Federal Credit Union turns skipped payments into miracles. Through their Skip-a-Pay program, members donate $5 each time they delay a loan. That simple choice raised over $150,000 for Children’s Hospital Colorado over the last five years. In 2024 alone, Blue contributed $45,000 to help fund lifesaving care, equipment, and support. Every skipped payment builds a healthier future. That’s the power of hope in action.

1st Nor Cal Credit Union

1st Nor Cal Credit Union celebrates the brave children and caregivers at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. Their team attended the Heroes for Healing brunch to show continued support. Their partnership with the KOIT Cares for Kids radiothon fuels pediatric care year after year. By standing beside young patients, 1st Nor Cal shows what it means to grow a community with compassion.

Credit Union of the Rockies

This winter, Credit Union of the Rockies cheered for snow and community spirit. They proudly sponsored the Uphill Series race at Granby Ranch. Participants ran, climbed, and slid their way to the finish line. Families gathered. Snow flew. Hearts soared. On that day, the winners were all the members of the community. That’s sprouting with hope through motion, movement, and moments of joy.

Valex Federal Credit Union

Valex Federal Credit Union gathered food, kindness, and smiles during their Food Drive for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. Their members brought canned goods, rice, pasta, and pantry staples to fill shelves and hearts. Each donation made hunger a little less scary. Every bag represented care from a neighbor who wanted to help. That’s what growing community support looks like.

Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union

Bark in the Park was a dog party that got the whole community wagging their tails. Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union joined the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to support animal rescue. Their team showed up with energy and heart. This event reminded everyone that love, like hope, always finds a home.

Crossroads Credit Union

Crossroads Credit Union turned up the volume on local talent. They proudly funded scholarships for the Parkland Music Festival. This annual event celebrates student musicians and future stars. With Crossroads’ help, young artists gained confidence and recognition. They didn’t just support music—they supported dreams. That’s how you sprout hope.
