Humanitarian Highlight 04.10.25

There’s something magical about spring. It is a season of fresh starts, growth, and renewed energy. It’s also the perfect time to highlight the ways credit unions spring forward to support their communities. From scholarships and financial education to emergency aid and youth programs, these credit unions prove that community comes first. Let’s dive into six heartwarming stories of credit unions implementing kindness this spring.

Corry Jamestown Credit Union

Corry Jamestown Credit Union brought learning and laughter together with a game of Fraud Bingo! Members gathered at Parkside at Corry to enjoy cookies, coffee, and community spirit. Dave Aitken from AARP led the fun and helped everyone “spot a scam” while playing bingo. No gambling. Just small prizes, warm smiles, and important lessons. What a creative way to spring forward into smarter, safer habits!

Regional Federal Credit Union

Regional Federal Credit Union empowers the next generation by offering two $500 scholarships to high school students. To apply, students submit a short essay on the importance of financial planning. It’s a great way to encourage students to dream big and plan smart. Thank you, Regional FCU, for helping the next generation spring forward into a brighter future.

Sterling United Federal Credit Union

Sterling United FCU brought flavor and fun by hosting a food truck event at its local branches. The event supported small businesses while creating a festive, welcoming space for members and neighbors. Great work, Sterling United FCU!

Nebo Credit Union

Nebo Credit Union is investing in local youth by awarding five $1,000 scholarships. Students can apply online or through their school’s counseling office. It’s an easy process that opens big doors for future leaders.

Peninsula Federal Credit Union

Saving money can be exciting—just ask the kids at Peninsula Federal Credit Union! PFCU teaches kids and teens to save money with excitement and prizes. Their Kid’s Club and Teen Club are packed with joy, rewards, and even tooth fairy bonuses. Yes, $5 for a toothless grin! Plus, students earn cash for good grades and build great saving habits early. PFCU is helping youth members grow into smart, confident savers. That’s a bright way to spring forward!

Los Angeles Federal Credit Union

When disaster struck, the Los Angeles Federal Credit Union stepped up in a big way. Through their charitable arm, LAFCU donated $25,000 to Emergency Network Los Angeles after the devastating 2025 wildfires. The funds supported critical services for families impacted by the disaster. Thank you, LAFCU!
