Humanitarian Highlight 12.05.24
The holidays are the season of giving. Every year, credit unions and their members reach in deep to help those in need. Let’s take a look at credit unions organizing toy drives, sponsoring events, and handing out Thanksgiving meal baskets during the holidays.
West Community Credit Union
West Community Credit Union and its members are giving big this season. They partnered with the Webster Groves/Shrewsbury/Rock Hill/Brentwood Area Chamber of Commerce for their Holiday Diaper Drive. Proceeds will go towards replenishing the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s diaper stash. The organization distributes 250,000 diapers each year. Thank you, West Community CU, for your generosity in the season of giving.
Harris County Federal Credit Union
Harris County Federal Credit Union joined the National Night Out celebration by hosting a Free Shred Event. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement. Neighborhoods participate in the campaign by hosting block parties, festivals, and various other community events. Harris County FCU gave the community a chance to safely dispose of their financial documents, old statements, & other personal papers.
Maine State Credit Union
People are struggling with grocery prices and Maine State Credit Union is doing something about it. They handed out two Thanksgiving Meal Baskets that were filled with everything needed to cook a great feast. They also joined the Kennebec Valley Board of Realtors to pack 75 Thanksgiving Meal Bags for families in need. Thank you for helping others during the holiday season.
Piedmont Advantage Credit Union
Piedmont Advantage Credit Union partnered with Winston-Salem Police and Fire Departments for a toy drive. They are collecting toys at their Advantage Way and Home Road locations until December 10, 2024. Great work, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union!
T&I Credit Union
T&I Credit Union Hosted its 5th Annual Basic Necessities Drive. Many families struggle to afford basic household items that are needed this holiday season. T&I CU collected donations of laundry-based items such as detergent, hampers, hangers, and other items from their members. In addition to dropping off items, the credit union also took donations through their Amazon Wish List and Venmo donations.
Horizons North Credit Union
Horizons North Credit Union sponsored “Entrepreneur For A Day” with the Westminster Chamber of Commerce. The program was designed to introduce young minds to the foundational steps of starting and running their enterprise. Participants showcased their business ideas and the results of their training at the Taste of Westminster event. With the help of their parents, they created pop-up storefronts, allowing them to experience entrepreneurship firsthand.
