Humanitarian Highlight 4.25.24

From providing financial education to contributing to great causes, credit unions play an essential role in the communities in which they serve. In this week’s #humanitarianhighlight, we observe credit unions demonstrating “empathy in action.”

Centra Credit Union

Centra Credit Union hosted financial education sessions at the Consulado de México en Indianápolis (Consulate of Mexico in Indianapolis). Their Thursday sessions covered a variety of financial topics like opening a checking account, building credit with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and creating an emergency fund. Thank you, Centra CU, for your hard work!

YNCU

YNCU participated in the Bon Soo Polar Bear Plunge. The event supports the “Hunger Freeze” Food Drive for the Algoma University Students’ Union (AUSU) Food Pantry. Great job, YNCU! Their plunge to freeze hunger is a great demonstration of empathy in action.

Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union

Beach Municipal FCU made a donation to the Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad. Their contribution will get them closer to purchasing a new ambulance. You can help by making a donation by visiting their Donation Page.

Co-op Credit Union

Co-op Credit Union donated $2,960 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Gundersen Health System. The funds will go towards assisting children and families that have been impacted by childhood illness or injury. Great job, Co-op CU!

Downey Federal Credit Union

Downey Federal Credit Union visited students at Ernie Pyle Elementary and were joined by Mama Bear from The Berenstain Bears. Thank you, Downey FCU, for helping students gain their financial confidence!

Alliant Credit Union

Alliant Credit Union participated in the Hustle Chicago 2024 stair climb. The event has participants ascend 94 floors of the former John Hancock Center. The event helps the Respiratory Health Association with their fight against lung disease and promotes cleaner, healthier air.
