Helping Those Who Help Others

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on CUs that are helping those who help others. Here are a few credit unions providing aid through donations, scholarships, and fundraising programs.

Sabine Federal Credit Union

The Sabine Federal Credit Union partnered with the Queenship of Mary #2776 Catholic Daughters of America to donate blankets to the Family Services Women & Children’s Shelter in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Family Services Women & Children’s Shelter provides counseling, shelter, and various other types of services to individuals and families. Great job Sabine Federal Credit Union!

Eastman Credit Union

Eastman Credit Union pledged $35,000 to purchase a 2018 Nissan NV Passenger SL van in support of the Kingsport Family YMCA Y on Wheels program. In 2019, Eastman Credit Union donated a 12-passenger van to transport participants, food, and equipment for the program. The new vehicle will be used to help even more people in underserved neighborhoods.

United Federal Credit Union

United Federal Credit Union donated over $20,900 through their 15th annual Pay It Forward program in 2022. They were able to aid 71 different individuals and community organizations last year. The program had its origins in 2008 when employees requested to allocate their budget for internal holiday celebrations towards helping others in the community.

CORE Credit Union

Core Credit Union gifted $3,500 to the Bulloch Retired Educators Scholarship Foundation Inc. (BRESFI) to help fund educational scholarships. Every year, BREASFI awards four $1,000 scholarships to honor and support high school seniors as they pursue a career in teaching. Thank you Core Credit Union!

Unison Credit Union

Unison Credit Union made a $1,722 monetary donation to Saving Snouts, a plant-based sanctuary for pigs. The funds were raised by Unison employees participating in the annual Casuals for a Cause program, where participants donate money in exchange for wearing casual clothing.

Earthmover Credit Union

Earthmover Credit Union gifted horse care items and helmets to Equine Dreams. The gifts will help the public charity to provide horse-based services to children and adults with special needs. Great job Earthmover Credit Union!
