There are many reasons to celebrate in the credit union industry, and credit unions know how to party. Throughout the year credit union events are put on to spread the benefits of membership, engage, and give back to communities. If your credit union is setting up a plan to party for a purpose we invite you to check out these steps that you won’t want to miss, as we look at credit unions and cu events.

Step 1:

Decide to host an event or sponsor one and know the difference between what responsibilities you’ll have. While both options require a good deal of planning for presentation, hosting requires more community outreach and event planning whereas sponsoring requires more strategic placement planning. Whether you’re throwing or attending you’ll want the event to be seasonally appropriate, and serve a community flavor as well as get those PR party hats on and connect with influencing businesses in your community. Stay on target and engage with your demographics.

Step 2:

Get the word out about any event that might be important to your community and really pump up the events your credit union is involved in. Write and share posts for social media, including the event in newsletters and emails, promote with in-branch flyers that can be shared with participating vendors and businesses, and even send out invitations. Depending on the event, your credit union could invite credit union vendors and local businesses to join the event. This can be a great way to increase your credit union’s business membership.

Step 3:

When you get your community together you’ll want to make sure you have some party favors for your honored guests to show your appreciation for their attendance. Promotional items and informational goodie bags are party perks no attendees can refuse. Creating an engaging way (i.e. spin to win) to get your current and potential members to sign in to your guest book with contact information is an invaluable benefit. Be creative or hire a marketing vendor to help your credit union choose promotional items as well as create a design fitting your credit union’s slogan and event goals.

Step 4:

Put on the Ritz for your event and dress up your credit union with a proud display of brand colors and logos at your venue or booth. Have your guests turning heads and your credit union gaining the attention that benefits both your credit union and its current and potential members. This may include a booth set-up, games and prizes, informational brochures, and more! First impressions matter, so make sure that your marketing materials match your credit union’s colors and vision.

Oak Tree has been a part of many credit union events because we know how this helps keep the Credit Union Movement growing and building new members. It’s why we love the annual CUNA GAC and the many other events going on with credit unions. When you are seeking to sign new members for more events, then you will need the best credit union membership enrollment forms.
