This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on credit unions building better communities. Here are a few CUs giving back through donations, charity events, and collecting food.

Citadel Credit Union

Citadel Credit Union donated $300,000 to CHOP’s 20th Annual Parkway Run & Walk. The event raised $2,000,000 to fund critical childhood cancer research and care. Thank you Citadel Credit Union!

Greater Nevada Credit Union

Greater Nevada Credit Union donated $10,000 to Reno Food Systems, a nonprofit that creates community-based food systems. The funds will be used to provide food to people who need it most.

Riverfront Federal Credit Union

Riverfront Federal Credit Union pledges a $5,000 donation to Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center for the purchase of a 3D mammography unit. Their contribution is part of the 6th annual Awareness Makes Cents Campaign, in which the credit unit helps promote breast cancer awareness and early detection. Way to go Riverfront Federal Credit Union!

Freedom Credit Union

Freedom Credit Union collected 930 pounds of food for The Gray House, Inc. The food will help aid The Gray House’s mission of providing food, clothing, and educational services to the communities in the North End of Springfield.

North Central Area Credit Union

North Central Area Credit Union raised more than $16,000 as part of their Superhero September campaign to support the Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center and the CAN Council. The fundraising campaign provided the community with face-painting activities, superhero entertainers, and running events.

PSECU

PSECU is helping support those facing food insecurity by making a $40,000 donation to Feeding Pennsylvania. On October 26, the credit union will be partnering with several food banks for a day of volunteerism. The credit unit believes a way to directly support the building of better communities is by addressing the food insecurity problem.
