Humanitarian Highlight 09.08.22
This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on CUs helping the community in which they operate. Here are a few ways credit unions are assisting by organizing charity events, awarding grants, and giving donations.
Wolverine State Credit Union
Credit union team members are truly committed to helping the community. Wolverine State Credit Union organized and hosted the Summer of Color 5k Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk event in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. The event was able to raise more than $5,000 to aid with the construction and renovation of a new building for the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena.
Navy Federal Credit Union
Navy Federal Credit Union awarded a $5,000 grant to the Central Kansas Military Community Foundation (CKMCF), a non-profit organization that assists soldiers and their families at Fort Riley and the surrounding community. The credit union awarded the grant to CKMCF for their compassionate service. Thank you, Navy Federal Credit Union!
Genisys Credit Union
Genisys Credit Union donated to two area service agencies through their Walk for Warmth fundraising campaign, an annual walking event to raise funds for those in need of heating assistance during Michigan’s winter months. The credit union donated $28,150 to Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency and $3,305 to Macomb Community Action.
Teachers Credit Union
Teachers Credit Union gifted $5,000 to E-3 Robotics to help support the Robotics Center Discovery Program and the Expo for students. The Discovery Program is a K–1st Grade STEM program that teaches students team dynamics and team problem-solving through the exploration of simple machine fundamentals.
BHCU
BHCU has been helping the Delaware County community by providing support to the youth. They donated $1,500 to Eddystone Elementary School for school supplies as part of their 2nd Annual Community Day. In addition, BHCU’s team cleaned and repaired the local playground. Great job!
