heroes in the community

Humanitarian Highlight 07.14.22

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on CUs being heroes in the community in which they operate. These heroes are helping to raise funds for medical assistance, producing meals, and awarding those in the pursuit of a better education.

Credit Union One

Credit Union One is an actual hero – a Hero Sponsor – raising over $3,000 for Beaumont Children’s Walk for Miracles, an event that collects funds for the pediatric programs of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital at Beaumont Children’s. The event had over 2,500 walkers and was nearly able to raise $100,000.

AEA Federal Credit Union

Another hero in the community is AEA Federal Credit Union, which donated $3,210 to the Yuma Community Food Bank. The funds will be able to produce over 35,000 meals for those in need.

Settlers Federal Credit Union

Settlers Federal Credit Union sponsored Ontonagon County Cancer Association’s 10th Annual “Knock Out Cancer” Walk. The organization helps Ontonagon County residents through their battle with cancer.

Dakotaland Federal Credit Union

Dakota Federal Credit Union is another hero. They raised over $800 in support of Heartland United Way’s efforts in helping improve the lives of every person in every community.

American Heritage Credit Union

A hero needs to be able to mobilize to where they are in need. American Heritage Credit Union donated $25,000 to Salus University to outfit a new Mobile Eye Care Unit, a well-equipped clinic inside an RV. The vehicle will ensure safe access to health care services for students and adults across Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Westerly Community Credit Union

Westerly Community Credit Union awarded over $5,000 in scholarships to local students. The credit union offers several scholarships to help those in their pursuit of higher education.
