Humanitarian Highlight 07.07.22

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on CUs supporting the community. Here are a few credit unions committed to making positive impacts in the communities in which they operate.

First Heritage Federal Credit Union

First Heritage Federal Credit Union was able to raise $11,390 for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier as a result of their 5th Annual Drive Away Hunger campaign. The funds raised will provide 34,500 meals to help support children, seniors, families and single parents in need.

Clearview Federal Credit Union

Clearview Federal Credit Union awarded their 15th Annual Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award to Harold Hicks, who founded The Miracle League of Western Pennsylvania with his wife. This organization provides facilities for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities to play baseball. To help the organization expand their roster and aid with facility’s maintenance, Clearview FCU donated $5,000 to The Miracle League of Western Pennsylvania.

American Southwest Credit Union

American Southwest Credit Union (ASCU) is consistently supporting local organizations. It recently made a donation to the National Alliance for Mental Illness of South Eastern Arizona (NAMI SEAZ), an organization that offers advocacy, education, and support to anyone affected by mental illness.

ProFed Credit Union

ProFed Credit Union provided a $5,000 sponsorship to the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana (GSNI-M) for their 2022 STEM Day Camp. Thanks to their sponsorship, 60 GSNI-M girls were able to attend the week-long trip filled with traditional and educational camping activities.

Suncoast Credit Union

Since 2019, Suncoast Credit Union has partnered with the Education Foundation of Sarasota County to provide two $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors in Florida.  This year the scholarships were awarded to Abigail Koester and Diana “Nicole” Valero for their work as students and career goals.

Credit Union of Colorado

Credit Union of Colorado awarded 11 students with a $5,000 annual scholarships in part of its annual college scholarship program. The recipients were chosen based on their academic achievements and volunteering services.
