Aces in the Neighborhood

This week's #HumanitarianHighlight is to point out the that have been aces in the neighborhood. These credit unions have been key supporters in the community through their contributions to hospitals, giving away gasoline, and other relief efforts.

Abbey Credit Union

Abbey is an ace that was able to raise $1,500 for Dayton Children's Hospital in a single month. The credit union has been donating to the hospital since 1989, showing its commitment to help.

Numerica Credit Union

Last month, Numerica Credit Union awarded 24 non-profit organizations with grants. The groups were chosen by their work in education, support of women and children, and helping those in need.

Awakon Federal Credit Union

Awakon Federal Credit Union joined the tornado relief effort for Gaylord, Michigan. The relief project consisted of sending a bus from Rogers City filled with supplies donated by the community. The project was started by a man who wanted to help after seeing news of the disaster. He quickly gained support from the local school and others eager to assist.

Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union

Some aces appear when one needs them the most. Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union gave $25 in free gas to 100 people. For one hour, credit union staff gave away free fuel at a local Indiana gas station.

Lake Michigan Credit Union

Lake Michigan Credit Union teamed up with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids to build a children's playground in a Grand Rapids neighborhood. This is the fifth playground by the credit union and their first build project since the start of the pandemic.

American Heritage Credit Union

Last month, American Heritage Credit Union raised $25,000 for the Kids-N-Hope Foundation as part of their 18th Annual Car Show and Member Appreciation Day. The Kids-N-Hope Foundation supports children's health and life services through pediatric music therapy. The credit union will partner up with the non-profit again for a cornhole tournament in September.
