Humanitarian Highlight 05.26.22

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on CUs spreading compassion in the community. Here are a few credit unions doing their best to create a brighter future.

Cascade Community Credit Union

Cascade helped spread compassion in the community by awarding three recipients with $1,500 scholarships as part of their yearly Pathfinder Scholarship program. Originating in 1987, the program started as a single $500 scholarship. Winners are selected by their demonstration of leadership, scholastic determination, and personal ambition.

SELCO Community Credit Union

In honor of the 32nd year of its scholarship program, SELCO Community Credit Union is awarding $52,500 in college scholarships to 20 graduating high school seniors. Each recipient will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship, but $5,000 will be awarded to the recipient of the Richard Metzler Opportunity Scholarship. The virtual scholarship ceremony was hosted live via Instagram on May 13th.

Red Crown Credit Union

Red Crown Credit Union does a great job of providing aid throughout the community. Following a successful blood drive, they donated $3,000 to the Claremore Public Schools NJROTC STEM program. Donating money or blood is a great way to help create a brighter future.

Tri-State Area FCU

Tri-State Area FCU donated $1,700 to H.A.C.A. Food Pantry. The food pantry has a long history of helping those in need since its origins in the late ’60s. To donate, follow this link: https://www.hoosickhaca.org/donate.

Connexus Credit Union

Connexus Credit Union made a $5,000 donation to St. Vincent de Paul of Merrill through its philanthropic program, Connexus Cares.  The donation will help community members with emergency needs such as WPS disconnections, rental evictions, medical bills, and other emergencies.

Members First Credit Union

Members First Credit Union of Florida donated $140,000 to the University of West Florida. The check presentation was held on May 10 at UWF’s College of Business. The donation will help support many activities and programs like counseling services, educational seminars, and UWF Alumni Association.
