Humanitarian Highlight 4.28.22

It's Thursday, and we have put together another #HumanitarianHighlight featuring actively participating in the community. Credit unions around the country are initiating or contributing to important local events, from engaging in surf festivals to introducing new venues.

SkyOne Federal Credit Union

SkyOne Federal helps its community manage finances, but also sponsors events like this past weekend's Spyder/SkyOne 14th Annual Surf Fest. The event featured a venue for surf vendors and live musical performances. This yearly occasion encourages the local surf community to engage with the credit union, while having fun.

Lisbon Credit Union

Lisbon Credit Union focuses on building futures and preserving dreams for its members and the people in the community. In 2021, they donated $12,638.19 to the Ending Hunger in Maine Campaign, with proceeds going to LACO of Lisbon Falls and Trinity Jubilee Center of Lewiston. The 2022 funding will go to the LACO food pantry of Lisbon Falls and Hope Haven Food Pantry of Lewiston.

Citadel Credit Union

Citadel Credit Union promises to serve those who work every day to build a better future for us all. The credit union will be sponsoring this year's Chester County Studio Tour, a two-day event that allows local artists to exhibit their work and provide public access to their studios.

Jolt Credit Union

Jolt Credit Union is very active in their community. It recently acquired the naming rights to the former Huntington Event Park. The 10,000 square foot outdoor venue is now named Jolt Credit Union Event Park. Their first event with the name change will be the Cinco de Mayo downtown celebration.

The People's Credit Union

The People's Credit Union has a long history of actively supporting the people of Rhode Island. For their 100-year anniversary, the credit union and its members have been gathering artifacts to place inside a time capsule that will be buried in January 2023. The capsule will be excavated and opened in 100 years.

SRP Federal Credit Union

SRP Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the Johnston Peach Blossom Festival in May. The festival will include a Bass Fishing Tournament and a car show called “Cruise In.” Each year, the festival is able to showcase the local peach industry to visitors in attendance.
