Humanitarian Highlight 12.16.21

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on credit unions showing appreciation for the community around them. And we all know the best way to show appreciation for the community a credit union serves is through humanitarian-focused charity! So, let’s look at a few of the credit unions doing their best to show appreciation.

Pacific Service Credit Union

Pacific Service Credit Union donated $60,000 to Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, a nonprofit that focuses on food distribution for several northern California areas. The donation was made as part of an initiative to distribute meals to those in need during the holidays.

Robins Financial Credit Union

Robins Financial Credit Union is participating in its annual 25 Days of Holiday Giving event, during which they donate money to one different nonprofit a day over a 25-day period. While the donation was unspecified, during a previous year each of the selected nonprofits received a check in the amount of $1,000.

Wings Financial Credit Union

Wings Financial Credit Union gave $10,000 to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a well-known nonprofit dedicated to giving toys to children from impoverished families. The donation was presented to the nonprofit on KARE 11, a local news channel.

Suncoast Credit Union

Suncoast Credit Union donated $20,000 to Blessings in a Backpack, a nonprofit that provides meals to children in need on weekends. The donation was made as part of Suncoast Credit Union Foundation’s goal to promote the well-being of children.

Greater Texas Credit Union

Greater Texas Credit Union donated $5,000 each to Mobile Loaves & Fishes and the Austin chapter of the Salvation Army. Both nonprofit organizations provide support to the homeless through shelter and food.

Rock Valley Credit Union

Rock Valley Credit Union announced that it will surprise ten local nonprofit organizations with $20,000 worth of Christmas donations. The announcement was made as part of a tradition the credit union established last year. The first of the donations went to Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill animal shelter.

Oak Tree Business Systems, Inc.

It is always a wonderful experience to examine the numerous ways credit unions show appreciation for their communities. Here’s to another week of generous giving!
