Humanitarian Highlight 11.11.21

This week’s #HumanitarianHighlight is on credit unions aiding the disadvantaged. Whether it is providing gifts for underprivileged children or technology for local community programs, these credit unions are doing their best to help those in need.

Southland Credit Union

This credit union has donated over $100,000 in computer workstations, equipment, and software (including over 200 monitors and an assortment of computer parts and software licenses) to the City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department. The large donation is part of Southland Credit Union’s commitment to supporting the Long Beach Community and will go toward supporting the City’s after-school and senior programs.

North Island Credit Union

North Island Credit Union, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, began accepting donations for a Holiday Toy Drive. This credit union, which is a division of California Credit Union, encourages its community to drop off new toys to any branch locations in San Diego.

Greater Nevada Credit Union

This credit union is also aiming to spread cheer for families in need during the holidays’ thanks to a partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Friends in Service Helping, and Elko Harbor House. Now through December 9th, Greater Nevada Credit Union is asking for donations of non-perishable food items, new toys, and clothing. Interested community members can participate by bringing donations to one of the many branch locations in Nevada.

American Heritage Credit Union

This credit union donated more than 2,600 books to local hospitals, community centers, and special care facilities in Philadelphia. The donation was made during the 12th Annual Books for Kids program, which collects donations from community members throughout the summer and fall to purchase and distribute books.

Redwood Credit Union

Redwood Credit Union is donating $120,000 in total to nine different nonprofit organizations in Napa County. The donation will be split in grants between the nonprofit organizations and will be generally focused on school-based wellness programs.

Land of Lincoln Credit Union

Land of Lincoln Credit Union is donating a total of $25,000, with a portion of the total going to eight different Illinois area food banks and pantries. The donation was made during the celebration of International Credit Union (ICU) Day® in October.

Oak Tree Business Systems, Inc.
