Humanitarian Highlight 4.21.22

It’s Thursday, and we have put together another #HumanitarianHighlight featuring credit unions distributing aid to people in their communities. From helping people fix their homes, providing food to the needy, and donating for future opportunities; credit unions are created for people helping people.

Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union

Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union’s motto has always been “people helping people.” They have recently donated $12,500 to United Way of Tuscarawas County. Their donation will help over 80 low-income households with emergency utility assistance.

Oswego County Federal Credit Union

Helping people is something that Oswego County Federal Credit Union practices every day. To help restore pride in their neighborhoods, they donated $2,500 to the Fulton Block Builder Program. In doing so, they will help homeowners and property owners recover part of the cost of their exterior property investment.

Wolverine State Credit Union

Wolverine State Credit Union has had a long history of actively supporting communities. They donated $3,000 to Friends Together’s golf scramble event being held at River’s Edge Golf Club in May. Their donation will help support those battling cancer in Alpena. Friends Together is an organization that helps people in northeast Michigan during and after a cancer diagnosis.

Service One Credit Union

Service One Credit Union strives to help their community’s financial well-being through personal relationships. It presented The Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) Foundation with a $15,000 donation. This will help many students by dividing funds into smaller grants to support student education.

Financial Center First Credit Union

Financial Center First Credit Union is sponsoring “Pack the Pantries,” an initiative by Midwest Food Bank to support local communities, disaster relief, and school children. With a $25 donation, they are able to cover 125 meals.

Midwest Members Credit Union

Partnering up for the third time, Midwest Members Credit Union and Crisis Food Center have handed out hams to the Alton community for Easter, as part of The Third Annual Easter Ham Giveaway. On April 9, 2022, they hand-distributed hams and side items.
