Hey credit unions, we are back this week with more Humanitarian Highlights for you to read about! So take some time to check out some awesome credit unions and their charitable efforts.
As we all know, credit unions offer many different benefits for members in comparison to banks. These benefits are one of the main selling points for credit union advocates and in most cases are the deciding factors for getting new members to join. Choosing between a credit union and a bank may seem like an easy decision to some, but for others it might not be such a clear choice. This is because not all membership is the same, and eligibility can vary. Your credit union’s field of membership serves a different community than others depending on things like location, industry, and employer, but no matter how specific the community may be, there’s a credit union for it.

Community engagement is arguably one of the most important characteristics of a credit union. Helping small businesses and being in touch with your members is what builds great relationships and can help a community thrive. These topics, as well as many others were discussed recently at the 2018 MBL Symposium, whose tagline was “Helping Businesses Help People.” The event took place in Las Vegas and as we all know, it is a place with absolutely no shortage of things to do or see. From the numerous shows, residencies, and hotel attractions, to simply walking down the strip itself, there is something for everybody. It boasts 15 of the top 25 hotels in the world and around 15,000 miles of neon tubing. What better place to hold a three day long conference? While Oak Tree didn’t attend this year, we’d like to share with you some of the things that went down.
